A shocking new development out of California has stunned Hollywood.
Darius McCrary, the actor beloved for playing Eddie Winslow on the classic sitcom Family Matters, has been arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents near the U.S.–Mexico border under President Trump’s renewed law-and-order immigration enforcement campaign.
🔹 Arrest Tied to Felony Warrant
According to Fox News Digital, McCrary was taken into custody on Sunday, October 5, and is now being held in a San Diego detention facility on felony charges with no bail allowed.
Records describe the case as a “fugitive arrest,” meaning the actor was already wanted by law enforcement at the time of the incident.
Officials have not yet revealed full details of the charges, but McCrary’s arrest has already sparked questions about Hollywood’s growing legal scandals — especially as Trump’s administration continues its crackdown on fugitives attempting to cross the border.
🔹 “Good Deed Gone Wrong,” Rep Claims
McCrary’s representative, Ann Barlow, says the actor’s arrest was the result of a misunderstanding.
“Darius was doing a good deed, helping build homes for the homeless in Tijuana, Mexico,” Barlow told Fox News. “While returning through the Border, officials discovered an old warrant for a missed court date.”
The court case reportedly involves an ongoing child support dispute in Michigan.
Barlow claims McCrary never saw the court summons because it was mailed to his P.O. box, leaving him only three days to appear. She added that McCrary had COVID-19 at the time and immediately notified the judge once he recovered.
🔹 Court Hearing Set for October 15
McCrary is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday, October 15.
If convicted, the actor could face additional penalties tied to his outstanding legal matters.
🔹 Troubled History with the Law
This isn’t McCrary’s first run-in with the justice system.
His ex-wife, Tammy Brawner, filed for divorce in 2017 and later received full custody of their daughter after alleging troubling behavior. Court records show McCrary was required to complete alcohol, drug, and anger management courses and to pay $1,366 per month in child support.
In 2018, Brawner accused McCrary of holding their baby daughter “over a hot stove with boiling water,” a claim the actor called “completely false.”
“None of these allegations are true,” McCrary told TMZ. “I would never harm my child.”
