Trump’s Leadership Wins Race Against China

Massive Alaska Discovery Shifts Global Power — and China Isn’t Happy

A groundbreaking discovery in Alaska is giving the United States a major upper hand against Communist China — and it’s happening thanks to a project fast-tracked under President Donald Trump’s America-First energy agenda.

Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced that the GraphiteOne project near Nome has uncovered enormous deposits of graphite and newly discovered rare earth elements (REEs) — resources China has dominated for decades. Beijing currently controls nearly 90% of the world’s graphite supply, a monopoly that threatens America’s economy, energy grid, and national security.

Today, that balance is finally starting to change.

U.S. Breaks Dangerous Dependence on China

According to the International Energy Agency, America has been over 93% import-dependent on both graphite and REEs, materials essential for:

  • Electric vehicle batteries
  • Renewable energy systems
  • Smartphones and consumer electronics
  • Military weapons and advanced defense technology
  • Magnets, fiber optics, and critical infrastructure

China’s 2024 export restrictions exposed how vulnerable the U.S. had become after years of weak leadership before Trump returned to office.

The new Alaska discovery — fueled by Trump’s push for energy independence and domestic manufacturing — is now reversing that trend.

GraphiteOne CEO: A “Generational Deposit” That Changes Everything

GraphiteOne President Anthony Huston called the discovery a “truly generational deposit”, confirming that materials will be processed in Ohio, not China, creating new American jobs instead of boosting Beijing’s economy.

Huston also confirmed that two of the materials qualify under the Defense Production Act, guaranteeing high-level federal support for minerals crucial to national security.

The newly identified rare earth elements include:

  • Neodymium
  • Praseodymium
  • Dysprosium
  • Terbium

These are top-tier REEs needed for everything from guidance systems to high-powered magnets to next-generation technology.

Geologists also found garnet-rich ore formations that naturally absorb REEs — making extraction more efficient and cost-effective.

Alaska Becomes Ground Zero for America’s Energy Comeback

In his State of the State address, Gov. Dunleavy called the GraphiteOne project the largest of its kind in North America and emphasized Alaska’s role as a “strategic powerhouse” for the metals shaping 21st-century American manufacturing.

He praised President Trump for restoring U.S. mineral independence after years of neglect and for ensuring that America never again relies on “entities of concern” like China for essential resources.

Pennsylvania Discovery Strengthens U.S. Position Even Further

Alaska isn’t the only state helping America break China’s monopoly.

In Pennsylvania, researchers and former Rep. Lou Barletta highlighted rare earth deposits hidden inside the region’s anthracite coal fields. Some contain up to 17 different REEs, offering yet another opportunity to weaken China’s grip.

Penn State researchers recently announced new methods to recover cobalt, manganese, and nickel from long-abandoned mines — turning forgotten coal country into a potential high-value resource hub.

Bottom Line: Under Trump, America Is Reclaiming Its Supply Chains

Together, these discoveries prove a larger point:

When America has strong leadership, we win. When we rely on China, we lose.

President Trump’s America-First strategy is creating:

  • More U.S. jobs
  • Stronger national security
  • A safer energy grid
  • Renewed American manufacturing
  • Lower dependence on hostile foreign regimes

China spent decades believing the U.S. would never catch up.

Now, thanks to Trump’s leadership, the race is turning — and America is winning.
