Patriots love it!

As the United States moves closer to its historic 250th anniversary, Georgia is unveiling new specialty license plates that allow residents to proudly display their patriotism—while honoring both America’s founding and its future.

Among the newly approved designs is a bold “America First” license plate, giving Georgians a visible way to express national pride on their vehicles.

The new plate was authorized through Senate Bill 291, introduced by Republican State Sen. Steve Gooch and signed into law by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp in May. The design features a full American flag background with the words “America First” clearly displayed along the bottom.

The specialty plate is priced at $90 and is already generating interest across the state.

“This license plate is a tangible expression of patriotism,” Gooch said when the bill was approved. “It reflects the importance of putting our country first and focusing on issues that matter to everyday Americans—such as economic strength, national security, border enforcement, and protecting citizens’ rights.”

Gooch also noted that the plate offers supporters of President Donald Trump a simple way to express alignment with the broader America First movement in daily life.

Georgia Also Launches America 250 Commemorative Plate

In addition to the America First option, Georgia is offering a separate USA Semiquincentennial license plate to commemorate the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday in 2026. That plate is available for $20 and highlights America’s founding year, 1776.

Georgia Revenue Commissioner Frank O’Connell said the America 250 plate provides a meaningful way for residents to honor the nation’s origins and Georgia’s role in the Revolutionary War.

The design was created by middle school students as part of a statewide civics education initiative. The winning entry, submitted by student Eden Pethel, features an American flag alongside an outline of Georgia, seven red stars, and the year “1776.”

According to Pethel, the red stars represent significant Revolutionary War sites across Georgia, including Kettle Creek, Savannah, Fort Morris, and Augusta.

Nationwide Interest in Patriotic License Plates Grows

Georgia is one of nine states currently offering commemorative license plates to mark America 250. The other participating states include Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Public interest in these patriotic plates has been strong nationwide. In Michigan, nearly 1,000 plates were sold within the first hour of their release, signaling widespread enthusiasm for honoring America’s history.

As the country approaches a major milestone, these new license plates offer Americans a simple, legal, and highly visible way to celebrate the nation’s past—and the values that continue to define it.
