Democrat Shockingly Takes The Lead
Los Angeles voters now have a clearer picture of who will compete for the city’s top job this fall.
City Council member Nithya Raman has secured a place in the Los Angeles mayoral runoff, setting up a showdown with incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, according to projected election results. The outcome comes after several days of ballot counting in one of the most closely watched local races in the country.
Bass currently leads the field with roughly 35% of the vote, while Raman narrowly edged out former reality television personality Spencer Pratt for second place. The margin separating Raman and Pratt remained extremely small as election officials continued processing ballots.
