This has made quite a stir.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) blasted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for his “cowardly” response following the announcement that former President Donald Trump was going to be indicted in New York.

Following the indictment, DeSantis had tweeted that the decision to indict the former President was “un-American.” He proceeded to state that Florida was not going to be assisting New York City in any extradition request that they might put forth relating to the case. Trump is expected to willingly surrender next week in connection to this case.

Schiff in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” Psaki asked Schiff about DeSantis’ recent tweets. In response, Schiff claimed that DeSantis was well aware of the law and he knew that he was obliged to help in the efforts to “extradite someone who is accused of a crime in another state. He added that DeSantis was “not a stupid person” and that he knew of this.

DeSantis graduated from Harvard Law School and practiced as a lawyer in the Navy before switching to politics and getting elected to Congress in 2012.

Schiff further noted that this entire situation brought to mind a statement that had been made by Adam Kinzinger, who had served alongside Schiff in the Jan. 6 committee. As Schiff recalled, Kinziger had stated that he and Cheney were not “so courageous” but that rather “they’re surrounded by cowards.” He then proceeded to state that DeSantis’ statements and decisions are cowardly.
