Biden’s AG Merrick Garland Gets Exposed

Merrick Garland needs to answer to the American people.

During a congressional hearing, Representative Matt Gaetz had a heated exchange with Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding the legal challenges faced by former President Donald Trump.

Garland appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, where the discussion quickly became contentious, particularly during Gaetz’s questioning. Gaetz, a Florida Republican and ardent supporter of Trump, along with other Republicans, has accused prosecutors of politically motivated attacks against Trump, who is running for president in 2024.

Trump has alleged, without providing evidence, that the Biden administration has influenced several state and local legal actions against him. These include criminal cases led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, as well as a civil case by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Recently, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of falsifying business records to conceal a payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump pleaded not guilty and plans to appeal the verdict.

During the hearing, Gaetz pressed Garland on whether the Department of Justice would share all communications with Bragg, James, and Willis to demonstrate there was no DOJ involvement in these cases. Garland started to explain that these offices operate independently, but Gaetz interrupted, insisting that he only wanted a commitment to provide the documents, not a historical overview.

The exchange grew more heated as Gaetz accused Garland of dismissing the idea of coordinated legal actions against Trump as a conspiracy theory. Gaetz argued that if Garland provided the requested documents, it would either substantiate or dispel these concerns.

Gaetz criticized Garland’s response, claiming that the Attorney General’s reluctance to provide the documents only fueled suspicions. Gaetz remarked, “AG Garland’s obfuscation continues to throw gasoline on our suspicions.”

The tension continued as Gaetz referenced the Trump hush money case, questioning Garland if, during his tenure as a judge, he had ever encountered a situation where a family member profited from a case’s notoriety. Garland refused to comment, noting it was inappropriate to discuss cases in other jurisdictions.

Republicans have accused Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the hush money case, of a conflict of interest due to his daughter’s involvement in Democratic politics.

Gaetz also suggested Garland had a role in assigning Matthew Colangelo, a prosecutor involved in the hush money case who previously worked in the DOJ and James’ office. Garland denied this, stating, “I did not dispatch Matthew Colangelo.”

Previously, Judiciary Committee Chair Representative Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, requested documents from Attorney General Letitia James regarding Colangelo’s involvement.
