Comey needs to be honest and tell the truth.
Former FBI Director Faces Scrutiny After Posting “86 47” Message Interpreted as Call to harm 47th President
James Comey, the former FBI director fired by President Donald Trump, is under renewed scrutiny after an alarming Instagram post that many believe was a veiled threat against the 47th president of the United States.
The image, posted without explanation, showed seashells arranged to display the numbers “86 47.” In common slang, “86” means to eliminate or get rid of something—and “47” unmistakably refers to President Trump.
The post triggered a swift reaction from federal law enforcement, including a call and follow-up interview by the U.S. Secret Service, as concerns mounted over whether the image was an intentional signal to harm the president.
Comey Dismisses Accusations: “Totally Innocent”
In an appearance on MSNBC, Comey attempted to downplay the backlash, calling the interpretation “crazy” and claiming he had “no regrets” over the post, which he described as a “clever” coincidence he noticed during a beach walk with his wife.
“It never occurred to me it was controversial,” Comey told host Nicolle Wallace. “It just looked like a cute shell formation.”
But critics—including President Trump—aren’t buying it.
President Trump Responds: “Even a Child Knows What That Meant”
President Trump, who has survived two assassination attempts including the July 13, 2024, Butler, PA rally shooting where a bullet grazed his ear, didn’t mince words when asked about Comey’s actions.
“He absolutely knew what that meant—any child would,” President Trump told Fox News’ Bret Baier. “For a former FBI director to pretend he doesn’t understand what ‘86 47’ implies? That’s either dishonest or dangerously clueless.”
Secret Service Launches Investigation—Deep State Deflection?
Comey confirmed he was contacted by the Secret Service the same evening and was later interviewed at their Washington field office. He described the agents as “professionals,” but continued to insist that any link to violence was absurd.
He eventually deleted the post—but not before millions of Americans saw what many consider a thinly-veiled threat from a deep state insider.
Tulsi Gabbard: “Comey Belongs in Jail”
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democrat who now serves in the Trump administration, publicly stated that Comey should face prosecution for the post.
Comey, now a novelist and frequent MSNBC guest, dismissed Gabbard’s remarks as “ridiculous,” and used the moment to take a swipe at the Trump administration.
Double Standards on Display—Again
For many Americans, especially those age 50 and up who remember Watergate, Iran-Contra, and the Clinton scandals, Comey’s attitude is just more proof of the growing double standard in Washington.
Had a conservative posted anything resembling “86 44” during the Obama years, the media would have erupted. But with the left and the media shielding one of their own, accountability seems to be in short supply.
Bottom Line: No One Is Above the Law Under President Trump
As President Trump continues to take bold steps to restore law and order, situations like this only reinforce what millions of Americans already believe—the swamp is still very real, and it’s more dangerous than ever.
From secret shell messages to soft-on-crime policies, the radical left continues to flirt with disaster. But under the leadership of President Trump, justice will prevail—and threats against our Commander-in-Chief, no matter how subtle, will not be tolerated.
