Democrats are fuming.
Washington, D.C. — In a bold and unexpected move Thursday evening, President Donald J. Trump removed Carla Hayden, the Obama-appointed Librarian of Congress, amid growing concerns from conservative watchdogs over her political activism and alleged promotion of radical content in children’s literature.
Hayden Out: Trump Cleans House at America’s Top Library
At 72 years old, Hayden — a longtime Democrat favorite and former head of Baltimore’s library system — was abruptly terminated via a direct email from the White House Presidential Personnel Office.
“At the direction of President Donald J. Trump, this message serves as formal notice that your role as Librarian of Congress is hereby terminated, effective immediately. We appreciate your service to the nation.”
Hayden’s 10-year term was originally set to end in 2026. Nominated by former President Barack Obama and confirmed in 2016, she became the first black woman to lead the Library of Congress — an appointment lauded by Democrats but scrutinized by many on the right.
Conservatives Sound the Alarm Over Political Indoctrination
The firing followed mounting criticism from conservative organizations, who accused Hayden of using the Library of Congress — a historically neutral institution — to push progressive and divisive narratives.
Just hours before the firing became public, the American Accountability Foundation posted:
“The current Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden is woke, anti-Trump, and promotes trans-ing kids. It’s time to get her OUT and hire a new guy for the job!”
This statement, now gaining traction online, underscores a broader conservative concern: public institutions are being hijacked to promote far-left social agendas — often at the taxpayer’s expense.
Democrats in Uproar, But Patriots Applaud
Not surprisingly, Democrats responded with outrage. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) blasted the decision as “a disgrace,” while claiming it’s part of Trump’s effort to “ban books” and “whitewash history.”
Rep. Joseph Morelle (D-NY), who oversees the Library as part of the House Administration Committee, even called Hayden “an American hero.”
But many Americans — especially those fed up with woke overreach — see this as a long-overdue correction and a step toward restoring neutrality, patriotism, and trust in key national institutions.
What’s at Stake: The Fight for America’s Cultural Future
The Library of Congress holds more than 170 million items, including rare books, presidential papers, and the historical records of the Supreme Court. It is not just a library — it’s a symbol of American heritage.
By removing a figure seen as aligned with the radical left, President Trump is sending a message: no more political activism disguised as public service.
