Democrats Launch New Trump Investigation

House Democrats are escalating their political attacks on President Donald Trump, launching a new investigation targeting his administration’s top border official, Tom Homan.

At the center of the controversy are explosive allegations that Homan accepted $50,000 in cash from undercover FBI agents during a sting operation tied to federal contracting.

This move comes as Democrats gear up for next year’s midterm elections, signaling that their strategy is to paint Trump’s second term as corrupt while distracting from their own failures under former President Joe Biden.

Democrats Push Aggressive Narrative

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, is demanding the Justice Department release a reported tape allegedly showing Homan taking the cash.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the top Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee, is urging Republicans to subpoena Homan to testify, even though GOP leaders control both chambers of Congress.

Democrats know they face an uphill battle but are determined to push the allegations into the headlines for weeks to come. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) attacked Republicans, claiming:

“Republicans are nothing more than a reckless rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s extreme agenda. We refuse to sit back and wait until we take the majority next year.”

White House Hits Back

The White House is firing back, calling the probe a politically motivated witch hunt aimed at smearing President Trump ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Initially, the administration described the investigation as “blatantly political,” noting that Homan does not oversee federal contracting decisions. On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt directly denied the allegations, telling reporters:

“Mr. Homan never took the $50,000 you’re referring to. Democrats are lying to cover up their own scandals.”

Later that evening, Homan appeared on Fox News’ Ingraham Angle, where he strongly denied committing any crime:

“Look, I did nothing criminal. I did nothing illegal,” Homan said firmly.

Why Democrats Won’t Let It Go

Democrats are also questioning why an earlier investigation — launched under former President Biden — was abruptly shut down after Trump took office.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and others on the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a letter demanding answers from FBI Director Kash Patel. They claim Patel and other top officials were briefed on the evidence, which reportedly includes video or audio recordings of Homan taking the cash.

The letter reads in part:

“It is difficult to believe that an investigation with such evidence could be deemed to lack credibility.”

Democrats want to know who ordered the case closed — and why.

The Border Security Angle

Democrats are also targeting Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which provided a historic $170 billion for border security and immigration enforcement.

Raskin claims some of the funding went to private contractors, including GEO Group — a company that once counted Homan as a client.

According to Democrats, this raises “serious ethical concerns” about whether Homan had influence over who received lucrative federal contracts to build and operate migrant detention centers.

GOP Stands Firm

Republicans have so far refused to play along, viewing the investigation as yet another partisan attack designed to damage Trump’s America First agenda.

Key GOP committee leaders — including Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. James Comer (R-KY) — have declined to comment, signaling they see the move as pure political theater.

Political Stakes Are High

Democrats lack subpoena power, which severely limits their ability to compel testimony. However, their relentless media push ensures the story will dominate headlines heading into the midterms.

For conservatives, this latest investigation is a clear warning: Democrats will stop at nothing to undermine Trump, even if it means weaponizing the FBI and Justice Department for political gain.

Bottom Line

This investigation isn’t about justice — it’s about power and control. Democrats are using taxpayer resources to launch a politically charged probe designed to distract from their own failures on the economy, the border crisis, and national security.

As President Trump continues to deliver on his promises to secure the border and protect American sovereignty, Democrats are desperate to regain control of the narrative. But with GOP leaders standing firm, many voters see this for what it is: another failed attempt to take down Trump and the America First movement.
