Europe is very upset with Donald Trump’s actions.

In a recent statement, Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, declared that the world needs new leadership following a tense confrontation between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office. She emphasized that it is time for Europe to step up and take on a greater leadership role in defending freedom worldwide, particularly when it comes to supporting Ukraine. Kallas wrote on the platform X, “It’s clear now more than ever, the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take on this challenge.”

Her words come after a heated exchange between Trump, Vice President Vance, and Zelensky, which unfolded during a high-level meeting. The disagreement centered around Ukraine’s ongoing battle against Russian aggression. Several European leaders quickly rallied behind Zelensky, expressing their unwavering support for Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, for instance, posted on X, saying, “Dear Zelensky, dear Ukrainian allies, you aren’t alone.” Similarly, Spain’s leader Pedro Sánchez tweeted, “Ukraine, Spain supports you.”

Leaders from other European nations, including those from Sweden, Latvia, Norway, Czechia, and foreign ministers from Germany and the Netherlands, also voiced their solidarity with Ukraine, reinforcing the sentiment that Russia’s invasion must not be tolerated. Moldova’s President Maia Sandu put it bluntly, “Russia attacked Ukraine. Russia started it. Ukraine defended its own freedom—and ours. We support with Ukraine.”

The heated exchange between Trump and Zelensky escalated when the two leaders disagreed over the terms of peace talks, with Trump accusing Zelensky of being “disrespectful” and “not ready for peace.” This confrontation has raised alarm among European leaders who believe that the U.S. should remain a committed partner in the ongoing conflict.

Domestically, former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) condemned Trump’s actions, criticizing the pressure placed on Zelensky to concede to Russian demands. Cheney warned that “history will remember this day,” signaling the grave implications of undermining Ukraine’s fight for freedom and independence.

As tensions rise, it’s crucial for the United States to reaffirm its leadership in supporting Ukraine and standing firm against Russian aggression. The world must remain united in its defense of democracy, and Europe should not shy away from leading the charge in this global struggle.
