This is strange.
During a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan shared the details of his discussions with Vice President Kamala Harris’ team about a potential interview, revealing some curious conditions that were reportedly placed on the sit-down. According to Rogan, his team had several conversations with Harris’ camp, and they were given a range of possible dates, but when it came to actually scheduling the interview, there were clear stipulations.
One of the most surprising demands, Rogan claimed, was that he avoid discussing the topic of marijuana legalization. He found this particularly ironic given Harris’ controversial record on the issue during her time as a prosecutor. “They had all these requirements… but the marijuana legalization talk was a dealbreaker for her,” Rogan said, laughing at the situation.
Rogan explained that while Harris’ team wanted the interview to take place in Washington, D.C., and insisted on a tight one-hour timeframe, they didn’t end up reaching an agreement. When asked by his guest, Adrienne Iapalucci, why the vice president might have been so sensitive about marijuana, Rogan offered a blunt assessment: “Because of her prosecuting record.” Harris’ history of supporting tough-on-crime policies, including locking people up for non-violent drug offenses, particularly marijuana, has drawn significant criticism, especially as public opinion has shifted in favor of legalization.
Despite these roadblocks, Rogan was enthusiastic about the possibility of interviewing Harris, even joking that he didn’t care about the restrictions. “Get her in here, I don’t give a f—,” he said. Reflecting on the broader political landscape, Rogan also noted that Harris was “a bad candidate” and criticized her performance in unscripted situations. While praising her ability to deliver rehearsed speeches from a teleprompter, he suggested that her strengths might not lie in spontaneous dialogue, further fueling skepticism about her leadership abilities.
