What did she say?
Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, has recently voiced strong criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris and the media in light of recent comments she made regarding the repatriation of Americans detained in Russia. Vance’s critique focused on Harris’ unscripted remarks, which made absolutely no sense, delivered alongside President Joe Biden at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
In his statement on X, Vance expressed disbelief at the media’s lack of scrutiny over Harris, stating, “It’s astounding how journalists can overlook this individual as she navigates her way to becoming the Democratic presidential nominee. Is no one going to question her statements?”
Harris has not held a press conference since she was widely recognized as the presumptive Democratic nominee following Biden’s decision not to seek re-election. Her remarks during a press gaggle about the prisoner swap were, “This highlights the critical role of a president who grasps the value of diplomacy and the importance of nurturing alliances.”
This statement, which was initially shared by the Trump campaign’s “war room,” drew comparisons to her previous comments, which critics labeled as “significance of the passage of time 2.0.” This phrase references a prior incident in 2022 when Harris, while speaking in Sunset, Louisiana, repeatedly used the phrase “the significance of the passage of time” in her speech. During that event, she had said, “We were discussing the significance of the passage of time. Right? The significance of the passage of time.” She further elaborated on how this significance impacts various aspects of life and future opportunities for children.
In recent months, Harris has notably reduced her unscripted public appearances. She missed a National Association of Black Journalists event in Chicago, where former President Donald Trump made headlines for his remarks and contentious interactions with ABC News reporter Rachel Scott. Since then, Harris has conducted only two campaign rallies, with plans for a third in Philadelphia next week. Speculation about her choice for a vice presidential running mate includes Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, and Senator Gary Peters of Michigan.
