Americans are heavily regretting ever voting for Ocasio-Cortez.
Protesters in New York City vocally expressed their anger to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Friday while she addressed the challenges posed by the influx of undocumented immigrants in the city.
According to the Washington Examiner, a group of frustrated citizens chanted, “Close the border! Close the border! Close the border!” as Ocasio-Cortez and other members of the NYC congressional delegation attempted to discuss the immigration crisis.
Addressing the protesters, Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the “Squad,” highlighted three key areas of consensus that could contribute to finding a solution to the issue.
“First, there is a shared agreement among individuals from various regions and states regarding the need to increase federal resources allocated to cities and municipalities grappling with this matter,” she explained. “Secondly, we should consider granting work authorizations to allow those affected to begin working and supporting themselves promptly. Many of them currently face barriers to employment, which places additional strain on our public systems.”
Ocasio-Cortez also emphasized the importance of extending temporary protective status for Venezuelans as the third point of focus.
As Ocasio-Cortez continued to speak, the crowd’s chants grew louder, ultimately causing her to pause her remarks less than two minutes after she started.
“Are we ready to conclude?” she inquired of her fellow speakers.
