Can Kamala and Walz actually pull this off?

On Sunday, Mitch Landrieu, the national co-chair for the Harris-Walz campaign, expressed a strong belief in Vice President Kamala Harris’s potential to secure a victory in Georgia come this November. Speaking on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Landrieu was confident about the campaign’s prospects in the Peach State.

“We’re confident about our chances in Georgia,” Landrieu stated during the interview. He emphasized the campaign’s commitment to battling for every inch of territory across the nation, declaring, “We intend to make Donald Trump defend every part of America.”

Landrieu further highlighted that the campaign is “a hundred percent” dedicated to winning Georgia. He noted a surge of renewed energy and focus following the transition of leadership from President Biden to Harris, who is now the party’s leading candidate.

He also pointed out the strong Democratic presence in Georgia, citing the influential speeches and roles of local figures such as Senator Raphael Warnock, Senator Jon Ossoff, and Representative Lucy McBath.

Next week, Harris, alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will be heading to Georgia, a state expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming election.

However, recent polling data shows that Georgia might be a challenging battleground for Harris. According to averages from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ, former President Donald Trump currently holds a slight lead over Harris in Georgia, with 49.2% support compared to her 46.5%. This contrasts with her national average, where she leads Trump by 3.6 percentage points.

Trump also shows a narrow lead over Harris in Nevada, and the two candidates are virtually tied in Arizona. In contrast, Harris holds a slight edge over Trump in several key states, including Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Reflecting on past elections, Trump narrowly lost Georgia to President Biden in 2020, while he had a narrow victory in the state over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
