Mamdani Threatens Trump

Mamdani is picking a fight with President Trump.

President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown has taken center stage in New York City’s heated mayoral race—thanks to Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, who is running a campaign built entirely on defying the President’s border security agenda.

Mamdani’s Anti-Trump Tour Hits Staten Island

On Wednesday, Mamdani brought his “Five Boroughs Against Trump” tour to Staten Island, using the Istanbul Bay Authentic Mediterranean Restaurant as his platform to denounce Trump’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants and secure the U.S. border.

“In a borough where nearly one in four residents were born outside the U.S., we are feeling the Trump administration’s crackdown,” Mamdani told supporters. “This isn’t about safety—it’s about punishment.”

Trump’s Law-and-Order Agenda vs. Mamdani’s Sanctuary City Push

While President Trump has made protecting the border, deporting illegal immigrants, and restoring law and order a top priority, Mamdani has vowed to “Trump-proof” New York City. His plan includes banning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from all city facilities and making sanctuary city laws even stronger.

Mamdani, joined by progressive allies including Staten Island District Leader Jasmine Robinson and immigration activist Yesenia Matas, accused the Trump administration of “ripping New Yorkers off the street without due process.”

Clashes Over Immigration Intensify

The Democratic primary earlier this year was dominated by opposition to Trump’s immigration crackdown. Mamdani’s ally, NYC Comptroller Brad Lander, was arrested in June after clashing with Department of Homeland Security agents while attempting to escort a migrant from federal immigration court. He was released without charges and labeled Trump’s policies “fascism.”

Nationwide, protests against ICE have erupted—particularly in Los Angeles, where some demonstrations turned into riots. President Trump responded by deploying the National Guard without Gov. Gavin Newsom’s request—something no president had done in 60 years.

Adams Breaks from Biden, Works with Trump

While Mamdani is vowing to defy Trump, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams has taken a different path. As New York City’s migrant crisis worsened—fueled by President Joe Biden’s rollback of Title 42 expulsions and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s migrant busing program—Adams declared a state of emergency and began working directly with Trump’s border security team, including former ICE Director Tom Homan.

Adams has visited both Mar-a-Lago and the White House, and federal prosecutors dropped corruption charges against him earlier this year. His growing ties to the Trump administration have reshaped the political battlefield.

High-Stakes Election Looms

The November 4 mayoral race now features Mamdani as the progressive anti-Trump candidate, Adams and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo running as independents, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa promising to back Trump’s law-and-order agenda.

For conservatives, the choice is stark: support a mayor who will partner with President Trump to secure the border and protect public safety—or elect a radical left candidate who vows to turn New York into the nation’s most aggressive sanctuary city.
