Funny how these crooked world leaders lie about Trump so freely.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has pushed back against President-elect Donald Trump’s claim that Mexico had agreed to “immediately” close its border with the United States. In a post on social media, Sheinbaum explained that during their recent conversation, she outlined Mexico’s strategy to address the growing migrant crisis, emphasizing the country’s commitment to human rights while managing migration flows.
Sheinbaum clarified that Mexico’s approach is not to shut its border but rather to focus on providing support to migrants before they reach the U.S. border. “We reaffirmed that Mexico’s position is not to close borders but to build bridges between governments and peoples,” she wrote, rejecting Trump’s assertion that an immediate closure had been agreed upon.
The back-and-forth comes after Trump posted on Truth Social, claiming that Mexico had agreed to halt migration through its southern border to prevent the influx of illegal migrants into the U.S. “Mexico is going to stop people from traveling to the Southern Border, immediately,” Trump wrote, framing the decision as a significant step toward stopping the “illegal invasion” of the United States. He also hailed the call as “productive,” discussing broader efforts to curb drug trafficking, particularly the flow of fentanyl, which has devastated communities across the U.S.
Despite Sheinbaum’s pushback, the Mexican president acknowledged the “excellent” nature of their conversation but maintained that Mexico’s policy would not be based on unilateral border closures.
These discussions occur amid broader geopolitical tensions, including Trump’s announcement that, if elected, he would impose new tariffs on Canadian, Mexican, and Chinese goods. The tariffs, designed to pressure these countries into taking stronger action on border security and drug control, would target Mexican and Canadian goods with a 25% tariff and add a 10% tax on Chinese imports. In response, Sheinbaum warned that such measures could lead to retaliatory tariffs, escalating economic tensions between the two nations.
Trump’s hardline stance reflects his ongoing commitment to securing the U.S. border and addressing the challenges posed by illegal immigration and fentanyl trafficking, two issues he has made central to his platform as he seeks to reassert American sovereignty on the world stage.
