NY Charges Against Trump Dropped?

Alvin Bragg is fuming right about now.

Donald Trump’s sentencing in his Manhattan hush money case is facing a potential delay of at least two weeks following his attempt to dismiss the case based on a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity.

According to a letter from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office filed on Tuesday, they do not oppose extending Trump’s sentencing for his convictions related to business records. The extension is sought to allow Justice Juan Merchan sufficient time to consider Trump’s argument that prosecutors improperly utilized trial evidence from his presidential tenure.

“While we consider the defendant’s claims to lack merit, we are not contesting his request for leave to file his motion and to delay sentencing pending the court’s decision,” prosecutors stated in their correspondence.

The prosecutors have proposed a deadline of July 24 to formally respond to Trump’s anticipated motion, which is anticipated to be submitted this week.

Pending the judge’s approval of this timeline, Trump’s sentencing would be postponed until at least July 25.

This legal maneuver comes amidst ongoing efforts by Trump’s legal team to challenge the use of evidence obtained during his time in office, asserting that such evidence should be protected by presidential privilege.

The outcome of this delay could significantly impact the timeline of Trump’s legal proceedings in Manhattan, as the former president continues to navigate multiple legal challenges stemming from his business dealings and actions during his presidency.
