Obama Judge Trashes Democrats

You know Democrats have lost it when even an Obama judge calls them crazy.

In a recent legal dispute over absentee ballot regulations in Wisconsin, a federal judge appointed by Obama himself delivered a scathing rebuke to a prominent Democratic law firm. U.S. District Judge James Peterson criticized the interpretation presented by the Elias Law Group, founded by Marc Elias, a well-known Democratic lawyer and former general counsel for the Clinton campaign.

The focal point of contention revolved around Wisconsin’s absentee voting requirements outlined in § 6.87(2) of the state statute. This provision mandates voters to certify their eligibility and adherence to the correct absentee ballot procedure, including obtaining a “witness certification.”

Elias contended that this witness requirement contravened the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, asserting that a witness would essentially need to verify various voter eligibility factors.

Judge Peterson, appointed by President Obama, dismantled this argument, highlighting the impracticality of the plaintiffs’ interpretation. He emphasized that expecting witnesses to independently verify such extensive information, including aspects like voter age, residence, and criminal history, would render compliance nearly impossible.

Moreover, Peterson pointed out that the statute allows any adult U.S. citizen to serve as a witness, indicating a broad spectrum of individuals suitable for the role. Therefore, interpreting § 6.87 in a manner that renders compliance unfeasible defies logic.

This ruling comes on the heels of another unsuccessful legal endeavor by Elias in Wisconsin, where he sought to compel the state to redraw its congressional maps. However, the Wisconsin Supreme Court declined to entertain the case, a setback for the state’s Democrats.

Critics have highlighted Elias’s history of courtroom losses and controversies. Despite past sanctions and criticisms, Elias continues to be retained by Democratic clients, even spearheading unsuccessful challenges to Democratic electoral defeats. Notably, his actions have drawn scrutiny, including accusations of racism stemming from a controversial tweet.
