AOC is losing her mind.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has called out Vice President JD Vance over his stance on free speech, accusing him of hypocrisy and undermining constitutional principles. Ocasio-Cortez made these comments in a post on the social media platform X, where she took aim at the Trump administration’s actions, particularly its handling of free speech.
“@JDVance, you misled the public in Munich. If the current administration truly believed in free speech as you claim, they wouldn’t be threatening members of Congress with criminal investigations for simply educating the public on their rights,” Ocasio-Cortez stated in her Tuesday post.
She responded directly to Vance’s remarks made during his speech at the Munich Security Conference, where he criticized the use of terms like “misinformation” and “disinformation” to suppress dissenting opinions. In his address, Vance accused European officials of stifling free speech by censoring opposing viewpoints and argued that this was an attempt to silence those who do not conform to the prevailing narrative.
Ocasio-Cortez pointed out that Vance’s claim of defending free speech seemed at odds with the actions of Trump administration officials like “border czar” Tom Homan. Homan, according to Ocasio-Cortez, had recently suggested launching a criminal investigation into lawmakers, including herself, for hosting a webinar aimed at educating immigrants about their rights.
Her comments come amid mounting concerns over the Trump administration’s efforts to control public discourse and limit the flow of information that doesn’t align with its agenda. Ocasio-Cortez has been vocal about the risks of undermining citizens’ ability to speak freely and share ideas, warning that such actions could pave the way for authoritarianism by fostering a climate of fear and compliance.
While Vance’s speech in Munich defended the importance of free expression and critiqued censorship, Ocasio-Cortez’s critique highlights a deeper divide between those who see such actions as a threat to democracy and those who believe they are necessary to protect national security and political stability.
