Thing are getting ugly in the Democratic party.
Recently, Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) along with the support of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and many other progressive Democrats unveiled a ‘billionaire tax’ to take money from some of America’s wealthiest people and help fund President Biden’s $1.75 trillion social spending bill.
Now it appears that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who happens to be the 6th richest member of Congress, took issue with her party’s plan to take tax on unrealized capital gains.
Looks like Pelosi loves taking money from everyone else but when it’s time for her to cough up the cash she begins acting really conservative.
According to the NY Post, Pelosi completely denounced the plan and called it “a publicity stunt.”
Pelosi called it a publicity stunt because she is claiming that Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) didn’t finalize the legislation for the billionaire tax fast enough to update the framework.
The billionaire tax was expected to affect 750 of of the wealthiest Americans and Pelosi was not happy about it.
House Speaker Pelosi is well known as one of the richest members of Congress. However, her true net worth is still unclear. Looks like Speaker Pelosi and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez are going to have a rough time in the near future since all AOC wants to do is “tax the rich”.
