Republicans To Flip Ultra-Blue State

“I’m Strongly Considering It,” Says Top Trump Ally as state Faces Crime, Taxes, and Chaos

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), a rising Republican star and fierce ally of President Trump, confirmed on Fox News that she’s “strongly considering” a campaign for Governor of New York in 2026. Her announcement comes as Democrat-led chaos grips the Empire State, leaving millions of residents desperate for conservative leadership.

“Just look at what one-party Democrat rule has done to New York — crime, taxes, illegal immigration, and economic decline,” Stefanik told Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo. “Voters want sanity back.”

Democrat Failure: Crime, Costs, and Collapse Under Kathy Hochul

New York has spiraled under Governor Kathy Hochul’s far-left leadership. Soaring crime rates, collapsing small businesses, and rising property taxes are driving retirees and working families out of the state.

Despite narrowly defeating Republican Lee Zeldin in 2022, Hochul’s approval ratings have plunged below 50%. Many voters say New York can’t survive four more years of her progressive agenda.

“Elise Stefanik represents real conservative solutions,” said one local GOP leader. “She’s tough on crime, strong on energy, and she listens to the people.”

Stefanik: Backed by Trump, Ready to Restore Common Sense

President Trump had tapped Stefanik earlier this year to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, but later withdrew the nomination to keep her in Congress — where her swing-district seat is critical to maintaining the GOP House majority.

“With Elise, we never have to worry,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “She’s one of my strongest allies and a real fighter for the people.”

Now, as Hochul stumbles and national Democrats retreat, Stefanik’s leadership could galvanize a red wave across the state.

Stefanik: “Hochul Makes Cuomo Look Competent”

Stefanik did not hold back when discussing Gov. Hochul’s record. “She’s even worse than Andrew Cuomo,” she said. “I didn’t think it was possible, but she’s managed to turn a disaster into a full-blown collapse.”

From soft-on-crime bail laws to crippling energy mandates, Hochul’s policies have gutted the middle class and punished seniors on fixed incomes.

“New Yorkers are looking for someone who will fight for law and order, lower taxes, energy independence, and basic freedom,” Stefanik said. “Not more government overreach and woke nonsense.”

Conservatives Energized by a New Generation of Leadership

If Stefanik enters the race, she’ll likely face primary attention — possibly from fellow Republican Rep. Mike Lawler — but her name recognition, Trump endorsement, and strong poll numbers could make her the clear frontrunner.

Her campaign would focus on:

  • Tough-on-crime reforms
  • Restoring affordable energy
  • Cutting taxes for working families and retirees
  • Ending sanctuary state policies
  • Protecting parental rights and free speech

Polls already show that independents and even Democrats are open to a Republican alternative — especially one with Stefanik’s no-nonsense, pro-America track record.

Hochul Doubles Down on Anti-Trump Rhetoric

Hochul has already started painting any GOP opponent as an “extreme MAGA Republican,” but that tired line may no longer work in a state grappling with real-life consequences.

At a recent CNN interview, she claimed Republicans were responsible for “higher prices and lost healthcare.” But for many New Yorkers, it’s Democrat policies that have raised the cost of living, slashed services, and emboldened criminals.

“New Yorkers are sick of the finger-pointing,” said a retired NYPD officer. “They want leadership — not lectures.”

The Battle for New York: A State on the Brink

The 2026 race for governor could be the most pivotal in New York’s modern history. And Elise Stefanik could be the conservative leader who finally brings back law, order, and economic sanity.

“It’s time to take our state back,” Stefanik said. “New Yorkers deserve better — and I’m ready to fight for them.”
