It’s time for Schiff to face the music.
Representative Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican from Florida, has put forward a resolution proposing a $16 million fine for Representative Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California. Luna alleges that Schiff made false claims about former President Trump colluding with Russia to win the 2016 election. The resolution argues that the proposed fine represents approximately half of the cost of the federal investigation into Trump-Russia collusion, which was discredited by reports from special counsels Robert Mueller and John Durham.
Luna asserts that the Republican Party agrees that Schiff has breached the trust of the American people, abused positions of authority, engaged in continuous deception, and should be held accountable. The resolution aims to hold Schiff responsible by imposing a $16 million fine, equivalent to half of the expenses incurred by taxpayers for the investigation into the alleged Russia hoax.
The resolution highlights Schiff’s role as chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, granting him privileged access to sensitive information unavailable to other members. Luna argues that Schiff abused this trust by repeatedly asserting the existence of collusion despite subsequent reports from special counsels proving otherwise.
The resolution claims that Schiff lent credibility to the Steele dossier, supported a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant against Trump aide Carter Page, and publicly accused Page of collaborating with Russia. It further accuses Schiff of using his position and access to sensitive information to initiate a baseless investigation for political gain and fundraising.
According to the resolution, American taxpayers spent $32 million on an investigation into collusion that was prompted by Schiff’s falsehoods, misrepresentations, and mishandling of sensitive information. It concludes by censuring and condemning Schiff for misleading the American people in a manner unbecoming of an elected House member and imposing a $16 million fine on him.
Luna has also introduced a separate resolution to expel Schiff from Congress for his misuse of his position on the intelligence committee.
In response, Schiff labeled Luna’s resolution to expel him from Congress as “payback” for his efforts to hold Trump accountable. Schiff, who is running for the Senate, claimed that the move is part of a broader retaliation against those defending the rule of law by members aligned with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
