Supreme Court Green Lights Trump To Do What?

Here’s what could happen next.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says the Trump administration is confident it will win a major Supreme Court battle that could determine the future of President Trump’s new America First tariffs—a core part of the White House effort to defend American jobs, national security, and U.S. manufacturing from unfair foreign competition.

In an interview with FOX Business host Maria Bartiromo, Lutnick delivered a message the conservative base will appreciate:

“Tariffs are central to this administration’s national security and economic strategy. We’re going to win this case. It’s pretty clear.”

Lutnick personally attended the Supreme Court arguments and said the Trump team left feeling optimistic.

If the Supreme Court Pushes Back, Trump Still Has Options

When asked what happens if the Court rules against the administration, Lutnick didn’t hesitate.

President Trump has multiple legal tools available—including Sections 232, 301, and 338 of U.S. trade law. These provisions allow the President to impose tariffs or restrictions to counter foreign abuse, protect American workers, and defend national security.

Meaning: Even if the Supreme Court tries to slow him down, Trump still has the authority to act.

Tariffs: The Heart of Trump’s Economic Revival Plan

Speaking from Brussels—where he was meeting with European lawmakers—Lutnick emphasized that tariffs are not a temporary idea. They are a cornerstone of Trump’s plan to rebuild American manufacturing and put U.S. workers first.

He also highlighted a key part of the President’s proposal that the mainstream media has ignored:

Trump wants hardworking Americans to share in tariff revenue through a $2,000 “tariff dividend.”

This would direct money collected from foreign competitors straight to low and middle-income Americans—not to bureaucrats in Washington.

Trump first floated the idea in November. He has also suggested using any leftover tariff revenue to help reduce the nation’s staggering $38 trillion debt, a crisis created by decades of reckless spending.

The White House estimates these payments could arrive as early as mid-2026.

Tariff Revenue Is Surging Under Trump’s Leadership

The results speak for themselves.

Since Trump launched his “Liberation Day” tariffs in April, revenue has skyrocketed:

  • $23.9 billion in May
  • $28 billion in June
  • $29 billion in July

Total tariff revenue for fiscal year 2025 hit a record $215.2 billion.

And fiscal year 2026 is already off to a rapid start: $40.4 billion collected since October 1st.

That’s money paid by foreign countries, not American taxpayers.

Will $2,000 Checks Cause Inflation? Experts Say No

Trade Representative Jamieson Greer dismissed liberal claims that returning tariff revenue to American families would “fuel inflation.”

“This is not a new welfare program,” Greer told Fox & Friends. “It’s a one-time dividend from America’s economic strength. It will not increase inflation.”

Greer added that while the payments would offer real relief to families struggling with Biden-era prices, they would not shift the nation’s overall economic picture.

The message is clear: Trump’s plan strengthens America without raising inflation or taxes.
