This is not a good sign.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was rushed to the hospital after he was experiencing flu-like symptoms and as a result will be forced to miss some oral arguments this week.

According to The Hill, Justice Thomas who is 73 is the longest serving member of the Supreme Court was rushed to the Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington and is expected to be released in a couple of days.

Supreme Court spokesperson Patricia McCabe stated, “His symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably, and he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two.”

McCabe further explained, “Justice Thomas will participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases for which he is not present on the basis of the briefs, transcripts and audio of the oral arguments.”

It is still unclear why the Supreme Court decided to wait one to two days before telling the public about Thomas’ hospitalization.

President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is expected to hold confirmation hearings very soon. If Jackson is confirmed she will be the first Black woman to serve on America’s Supreme Court.
