Thanksgiving Day Chaos Shocks America

This has shaken a lot of Americans.

The Seven Circles Alliance, an organization focusing on climate change and social justice, disrupted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City by staging a protest that involved lying down in the street, blocking the parade route, and chanting slogans like “liberation for Palestine and planet.”

According to Newsmax, a female protester stated, “We are calling for the liberation of Palestine and our planet. There is an ongoing genocide, and our planet is dying. We urge the United States government to take a stand, to end apartheid, and to cease the use of fossil fuels. We are all at risk here.”

During the protest, some demonstrators climbed over the fencing, lay down on the parade route, and poured a red liquid resembling blood on themselves before being arrested by the police.

According to the organization’s website, the Seven Circles Alliance is a coalition of diverse groups using direct action to bring class consciousness to the climate movement and advocate for political and economic system change through a decolonial lens.

The group’s objective, as stated on their website, is to unite labor unions, climate scientists, student bodies, and socialist organizations with the general public to initiate an international general strike aimed at addressing capitalism. They emphasize the need to decentralize private capital and corporations for a shift away from market-based limitations, highlighting the urgency of de-commodifying ecological means of survival.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, an annual tradition in New York City, saw its 97th edition disrupted by the protest. The parade, featuring iconic balloons and performances, attracts thousands of spectators along its route through Manhattan, culminating in front of Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street. Notable performers included Cher, who performed just before the arrival of Santa Claus, marking the end of the parade.
