The GOP wants the American people to have all the answers.

Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana is sending a clear message to the federal government: he will hold them accountable if they do not fully disclose the truth behind the tragic New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans. At a press conference, the Republican lawmaker expressed frustration over what he described as incomplete and contradictory information surrounding the attack, which left at least 15 people dead on Bourbon Street.

Kennedy specifically referenced the suspect, Shamsud Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old Army veteran who was killed in a shootout with police after carrying out the attack. The gunman, who was reportedly brandishing an Islamic State flag, is believed to have committed the act alone, though authorities are investigating whether others may have been involved.

“I’ve heard a lot of rumors, some true and some false,” Kennedy said. “But what I want from the federal government is simple: catch the criminals responsible and then tell the American people the full truth. Don’t hide behind investigations. Once the facts are clear, we need answers.”

Kennedy also made a powerful promise to his constituents and the American people: if the truth isn’t revealed after the investigation is complete, he will take matters into his own hands. “I will chase those in the federal government responsible for withholding the truth as if they stole Christmas,” he warned, signaling his readiness to hold officials accountable for any stonewalling or lack of transparency.

The FBI has indicated that Jabbar may not have acted entirely alone, and it has come to light that he may have rented the vehicle used in the attack. While investigations continue, Kennedy’s fiery words serve as a reminder that the American public deserves to know the truth—no matter how uncomfortable or politically inconvenient it may be.
