But are they wrong?

In an incident that garnered widespread criticism, former President Donald Trump expressed his disapproval of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ flawed Twitter campaign launch for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Trump took to his Truth Social account, stating that his “Red Button” was superior and functional, while DeSantis’ was not. He even mentioned a conversation with Kim Jong Un of North Korea, hinting at a potential friendship. Trump further shared a video on Truth Social featuring his rally footage and Elon Musk’s Twitter Spaces account, alluding to the technical difficulties faced during the launch. He also uploaded a video titled “Ron! 2024.”

Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for Trump’s MAGA Inc. PAC, joined the chorus of critics by referring to DeSantis’ campaign announcement as a historic train wreck. President Joe Biden also got involved, sharing a working link to his campaign’s donation page. The Democratic National Committee joined in with their own critique of the flawed rollout, criticizing DeSantis for not being ready for prime time.

During the scheduled conversation, which was delayed for more than 20 minutes, DeSantis encountered repeated crashes and echoing audio in the Twitter Spaces live audio room. Elon Musk attributed this to the overwhelming number of listeners overloading Twitter’s servers. The incident led to trending topics such as “Failure to Launch,” “Crashed,” and #DeSaster on Twitter.

Bryan Griffin, DeSantis’ press secretary, attempted to lighten the situation, remarking that the internet was overwhelmed due to the tremendous enthusiasm for DeSantis’ vision. The campaign, despite the glitches, managed to raise $1 million within an hour of the launch.
