Trump Makes Major Change To College Tuition

Trump is trying to enforce a new rule and conservative applaud it.

The Trump administration just delivered a major win for American taxpayers—ending a policy that gave illegal immigrants access to in-state college tuition.

For over two decades, Texas allowed non-citizens to pay the same rates as hardworking American students. But thanks to legal action from the Trump Justice Department, that controversial practice is finally coming to an end.

A federal judge—originally appointed by George W. Bush—ruled in favor of the Trump team, halting the policy that critics say encouraged illegal immigration and drained millions in taxpayer money.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called it a turning point:

“Ending this discriminatory and un-American provision is a major victory for Texas.”

Currently, 23 states and Washington, D.C. still offer these benefits to illegal aliens. But momentum is shifting fast—led by conservatives who are putting American students and taxpayers first.

Florida Pushes Back on Illegal Tuition Perks

In Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis led the charge to repeal a similar program.

“We should not be subsidizing illegal immigration through our higher education system,” he said.

The repeal, backed by Rep. Randy Fine, is expected to save Florida taxpayers $45 million a year—a major win for seniors and working families alike.

Kentucky Joins the Fight

Now, Kentucky is following suit. Former Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who’s running to replace Sen. Mitch McConnell, is backing the Trump-aligned lawsuit to roll back in-state tuition for illegals.

“We must prioritize our citizens,” Cameron said. “Not reward lawbreakers.”

A bill moving through the state legislature aims to end the policy, despite pushback from Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear—who claims the matter is outside his control.

But Trump’s Justice Department isn’t backing down. Attorney General Pam Bondi made it clear:

“We won in Texas. Now we’ll fight to protect Kentucky taxpayers too.”

More States Ready to Follow Trump’s Lead

States like Kansas and Minnesota are also considering legislation to reverse in-state tuition benefits for illegals.

For decades, American citizens have been forced to foot the bill for illegal immigration through higher education subsidies. But under President Trump’s leadership, that era is coming to an end.

🧠 Bottom Line:
American taxpayers are tired of footing the bill. President Trump is putting U.S. students first—and rolling back costly handouts to those who break the law.
