Who saw this coming?
Fred Trump III, the nephew of former President Donald Trump, recently announced his decision to support Vice President Kamala Harris, a move that starkly contrasts with the political stance of his family. In an interview on “The View,” Trump III explained his choice by emphasizing his belief in prioritizing policies over politics. “I’m committed to supporting policies that align with my values, and Kamala Harris’s policies resonate with me,” he stated. He even went so far as to say that he would actively campaign for Harris if asked.
Fred Trump III, along with his sister Mary, has been a notable critic of the former president. Earlier in the day, during an interview with ABC News, he characterized Donald Trump’s approach as “complex and at times harsh.” On “Good Morning America,” Fred Trump elaborated on his sentiments, describing his uncle as an “atomic crazy” figure who has left a significant mark on the family’s legacy.
Fred Trump is currently promoting his new book, “All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way,” which delves into the intricacies of the Trump family dynamics and his personal experiences with the former president. In his book, he recounts a troubling episode from a visit to the Oval Office. According to Fred Trump, his uncle allegedly made an insensitive remark about people with disabilities during a phone conversation regarding a medical fund for his disabled son, William. Fred Trump claimed that Trump suggested his son should be left to die, a comment he found deeply shocking and indicative of the former president’s character.
In response to these allegations, Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, issued a strong denial. Cheung dismissed Fred Trump’s claims as “completely fabricated” and “a blatant attempt to generate controversy and sell books.” He insisted that such allegations are inconsistent with the character of President Trump and labeled the book as nothing more than “fiction” aimed at exploiting family discord for financial gain.
