Trump Gets Last Laugh On Crooked Judge

President Donald Trump has secured another major legal victory — this time against what supporters call blatant judicial overreach by an Obama-appointed judge.

On Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit overturned District Judge James Boasberg’s attempt to hold Trump administration officials in criminal contempt over deportation flights carrying dangerous Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador.

In a decisive 2-1 ruling, the appeals panel sided squarely with the Trump administration, saying Boasberg’s order created a constitutional crisis. Writing for the majority, Trump-appointed Judge Neomi Rao blasted the move, stating it forced the executive branch “to choose between capitulating to an unlawful judicial order and facing a dubious prosecution.” She was joined by fellow Trump appointee Judge Gregory Katsas.

The lone dissent came from Judge Cornelia Pillard, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, who praised Boasberg’s handling of the case — a position critics say is typical of liberal judges shielding their own while targeting conservatives.

The Fight Over the Alien Enemies Act

Boasberg became a national flashpoint after being assigned the first lawsuit challenging Trump’s historic use of the Alien Enemies Act — a rarely used but powerful tool to swiftly deport foreign criminals and gang members threatening U.S. communities. In March, President Trump used it to send alleged Venezuelan cartel members to a notorious Salvadoran super-prison.

In a hastily arranged weekend hearing, Boasberg ordered the Trump administration to turn around airborne deportation flights. That order was later wiped away by the Supreme Court — but the judge still tried to punish Trump officials, accusing them of ignoring his directives.

Whistleblower Bombshell

The case drew more heat when a Justice Department whistleblower accused senior official Emil Bove of suggesting that the administration might defy any court orders, reportedly telling colleagues they may need to tell the courts “f— you.” Bove — now confirmed by the Senate as a federal appeals judge — sidestepped direct answers when pressed about the remark during his confirmation hearing.

Democrats Cry Foul Over Court Delay

The appeals court had placed an “administrative stay” on the contempt case for months — an unusually long pause that some Democrats claimed shielded Bove from scrutiny until after his confirmation. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) accused the court of possible political motives, but on Friday, Trump’s legal team emerged victorious.

The Bigger Picture for Trump Supporters

While the underlying case on the Alien Enemies Act is still pending, its future is uncertain. The deported Venezuelan gang members have since been released from the Salvadoran prison and transferred to Venezuela in a prisoner swap. The ACLU says some are still fighting to re-enter the United States — a move Trump supporters see as proof the left puts criminals before American citizens.

For conservatives, this ruling is more than a legal win — it’s a direct rebuke of activist judges trying to undermine a sitting president’s lawful authority. Once again, President Trump has proven that he can beat the left’s attempts to weaponize the courts against his administration.
