The media ran with this story and Trump is revealing the truth.
President Donald Trump took to social media on Saturday evening to set the record straight and defend the relationship between Marco Rubio and entrepreneur Elon Musk, dismissing rumors of a disagreement between the two as “FAKE NEWS.”
In a Truth Social post around 6 p.m., the president strongly asserted, “ELON AND MARCO HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP,” adding, “ANY STATEMENT OTHER THAN THAT IS FAKE NEWS!!!” This came in response to an article published by The New York Times that claimed the two had clashed during a recent Cabinet meeting.
According to the report, Musk allegedly criticized Rubio for not following through with staff reductions, an effort that Musk had been pushing for across federal agencies. It was suggested that Musk wanted to see more cuts, while Rubio argued that 1,500 employees from the State Department had already taken early retirement buyouts, effectively reducing the workforce.
The Times article described the situation as tense, noting that Trump, sitting silently with his arms crossed, watched the exchange unfold. However, the president eventually intervened after what he saw as an “uncomfortable” moment, according to the report. Trump wasted no time quelling speculation about the meeting when he publicly condemned a reporter from NBC News who questioned him about the incident.
“No clash. I was there – you’re just a troublemaker,” Trump said, before adding that the reporter wasn’t even supposed to be asking about the meeting since they were discussing the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a topic he was addressing in the Oval Office at the time.
Trump reaffirmed his stance, emphasizing, “Elon and Marco get along great, they are both doing a great job. There is no issue.” The president’s words echo his ongoing commitment to supporting both men’s efforts, as he continues to champion conservative values and ensure that the focus remains on policy rather than unsubstantiated rumors.
