Trump wins again.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, threw a tantrum and strongly criticized CNN’s town hall with former President Trump on Wednesday evening, stating that the network should feel ashamed of its actions.
In transcript provided by Fox, “They have lost total control of this ‘town hall’ to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim. The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host,” AOC tweeted.
Ocasio-Cortez then continued raging and wrote, “This falls squarely on CNN. Everyone here saw exactly what was going to happen. Instead they put a sexual abuse victim in harm’s way for views. This was a choice to platform lies about the election & Jan 6th w/ no plan but to have their moderator interrupted without consequence.”
During the town hall, which was hosted by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Trump persisted in his assertion that the 2020 election was rigged, despite Collins’ objections. Additionally, he defended his actions surrounding the January 6th Capitol riot. Trump was also questioned about a range of other topics, including abortion, his pledge to construct a border wall, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and various other issues.
On Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez made an appearance on MSNBC and continued to criticize CNN for the town hall, asserting that it facilitated the spread of “appalling disinformation.”
AOC whined, “I think it was a profoundly irresponsible decision. I don’t think I would be doing my job if I did not say that… It was shameful.”
Numerous vocal liberals, including Ocasio-Cortez, expressed their disapproval of Trump being granted a platform during the town hall on Wednesday night. Some individuals protested that Collins did not sufficiently fact-check Trump or that she was placed in a challenging situation, given the partisan audience. Others argued that CNN CEO Chris Licht was prioritizing ratings over journalism.
