President Donald Trump just fired another shot in his years-long feud with Hollywood legend Robert De Niro — and this time, artificial intelligence helped deliver the punchline.
Trump targeted the outspoken actor Sunday with an apparently AI-generated image posted on Truth Social showing De Niro holding up a bright red shirt declaring: “TRUMP IS MY PRESIDENT.”
There is no indication De Niro has actually changed his political views. The image was a joke aimed at an actor who has spent years publicly attacking Trump.
Trump added his own brief message above the picture.
“Even this jerk is beginning to get it!” Trump wrote.
The post quickly added another chapter to one of the most bitter feuds between Trump and a major Hollywood celebrity.
Trump Uses AI To Troll His Hollywood Critic
The image portrays De Niro looking less than enthusiastic as he displays the pro-Trump shirt.
That was part of the joke.
De Niro has been one of Trump’s most persistent critics in Hollywood, making the sight of the actor supposedly declaring Trump “my president” an obvious reversal of his real-world political position.
It also wasn’t Trump’s first time using AI-generated content to poke fun at his celebrity opponents.
Earlier this year, Trump shared an AI-generated parody portraying himself as a doctor supposedly treating celebrity critics suffering from what his supporters commonly call “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Among the celebrities depicted were De Niro, Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg.
But the rivalry with De Niro has become especially personal.
De Niro Has Repeatedly Attacked Trump
De Niro, known for classic films including “The Godfather Part II,” “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull,” “Goodfellas” and “Casino,” has repeatedly used his celebrity platform to criticize Trump.
His attacks have continued during Trump’s second term.
At a June event in New York, De Niro delivered another blistering assessment of the president and the direction of the country.
“Our country isn’t so lovable right now,” De Niro said.
The actor went on to compare his feelings about America under Trump to the dynamics of an abusive relationship.
De Niro then described Trump with a series of highly critical terms and declared that he could not love a country led by the president.
Those comments made clear that the political gulf between the two men remains as wide as ever.
Stephen Miller Was Also Targeted
De Niro hasn’t limited his criticism to Trump.
In October 2025, the actor turned his attention to senior White House adviser Stephen Miller during a television interview.
De Niro compared Miller to Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s propaganda minister, before explicitly calling Miller a “Nazi.”
Miller strongly rejected the attack and responded by criticizing De Niro personally.
The episode demonstrated how De Niro’s political criticism has increasingly extended beyond Trump himself to prominent members of his administration.
Trump And De Niro Have Feuded For Years
The hostility between Trump and De Niro is hardly new.
De Niro was criticizing Trump publicly before the 2016 presidential election and has continued doing so for roughly a decade.
Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly answered the actor’s attacks with insults and criticism of his own.
That history is what gave Sunday’s AI image its obvious punchline.
Few people familiar with De Niro’s political statements would expect to see the actor willingly displaying a shirt declaring Trump his president.
The picture turned that history on its head by depicting exactly that.
Trump Goes On An AI Posting Spree
De Niro wasn’t the only subject of Trump’s unusual social-media activity Sunday.
The president shared a series of AI-generated and altered images covering everything from American history to geography.
One depicted Trump riding horseback alongside George Washington.
Another image suggested changing “New Mexico” to “New America,” with “Mexico” crossed out and replaced by “America.”
The posts attracted considerable attention online and demonstrated Trump’s continued willingness to use memes and artificial intelligence as part of his social-media presence.
But the De Niro post had something the others didn’t: years of personal history behind it.
A Hollywood Feud That Isn’t Going Away
De Niro has shown no indication that he intends to stop criticizing Trump, and Trump has shown little hesitation about responding.
Sunday’s image appears to be the latest evidence that their public feud remains alive and well.
For Trump, an AI-generated picture provided a simple way to turn the tables on one of his most famous Hollywood critics — portraying a longtime opponent doing something his past statements suggest he would never voluntarily do.
And considering the history between these two men, it probably won’t be the last time Americans hear about their feud.
