America needs more of this.

At a recent rally in Savannah, Georgia, former President Donald Trump expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for his safety following two recent assassination attempts. Speaking candidly to his supporters, Trump reflected on a frightening incident in July when a gunman opened fire during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“That was a close call,” the 78-year-old said, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. He raised his hands skyward, whispering a sincere “thank you” while clasping his hands together in prayer.

The attack resulted in injuries to several individuals, including the tragic death of a rallygoer. Trump noted that his sons, both skilled marksmen, remarked on the shooter’s accuracy. “From 130 yards, a bad shooter couldn’t miss,” he quoted them, emphasizing the seriousness of the threat he faced.

In a lighter moment, Trump showcased a chart of immigration statistics he had been discussing just moments before the shooting occurred. “This chart is my favorite. I love it so much, I sleep with it every night,” he quipped, adding humor to a tense narrative. He credited his quick glance at the chart with potentially saving his life, asserting, “If I hadn’t looked to the right, I wouldn’t be here today, that’s for sure.”

The former president also recounted a second assassination attempt on September 15 at his golf course in Florida. Thanks to the vigilance of a Secret Service agent, a suspect was apprehended before any harm could be done. Trump praised the agent’s quick thinking, stating, “God was watching, because you need someone sharp in those moments.”

Concluding his remarks, Trump emphasized the significance of his presidency. “They only go after consequential leaders,” he declared, rallying his supporters with a promise: “We’re going to be even more consequential because we’re determined to achieve what others thought impossible.”
