Trump Makes Stephen King Say Sorry

This apology was long overdue.

Bestselling author Stephen King was forced to apologize Friday after posting a vile and false accusation about conservative activist Charlie Kirk, just one day after Kirk was tragically assassinated during a public event in Utah.

King, a longtime critic of President Donald Trump, falsely claimed that Kirk once advocated “stoning gays to death.” The inflammatory post immediately sparked nationwide outrage, especially among Kirk’s supporters and prominent conservatives.

The Smear That Sparked National Backlash

In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), King wrote:

“He pushed for gays to be stoned to death. Just saying.”

The post came shortly after Fox News host Jesse Watters honored Kirk, calling him a “patriot” who dedicated his life to fighting for American values.
Watters wrote:

“Charlie Kirk was neither ‘controversial’ nor ‘divisive.’ He was a true PATRIOT. This moment marks a turning point, and we must all move forward together in the right direction. Rest in peace, my friend.”

Almost immediately, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) hit back, calling out King’s lies in a fiery response:

“You are a vile and deceitful liar. No, he never said that,” Cruz wrote. “Your party — the one you proudly defend — sent $100 billion to the Ayatollah, who truly does execute homosexuals. Why are you so dishonest and consumed with hate?”

Stephen King Forced to Backtrack

The intense backlash pushed King to reverse course and publicly apologize by Friday morning.

“I regret claiming that Charlie Kirk supported stoning gays,” King said. “What he was really doing was showing how certain people selectively use Bible verses to make a point.”

King even responded directly to Cruz:

“The terrible, dishonest person apologizes. This is what happens when I read something on social media without checking the facts. It won’t happen again.”

Cruz accepted the apology but reminded King — and the public — that political debates must be rooted in truth and respect:

“I appreciate that Stephen King deleted the false tweet about Charlie Kirk and apologized. All of us — on both sides of the aisle — should treat each other with respect and decency, even if we disagree on politics. Charlie did that every day, and I admired him for it.”

Radical Left Celebrates Kirk’s Death

King’s false smear was only part of a disturbing trend. Across social media, radical left-wing activists went even further, celebrating Kirk’s assassination.

One of the worst offenders was author Gretchen Felker-Martin, known for writing transgender horror fiction. Just hours after Kirk’s murder, she posted vile remarks on BlueSky, including:

“Thoughts and prayers, you Nazi [expletive]. Hope the bullet’s okay after touching Charlie Kirk.”

The backlash was swift. DC Comics immediately canceled her upcoming series, Red Hood, in response to her hateful statements.

But instead of apologizing, Felker-Martin doubled down, claiming Kirk’s death was “pleasant” and accusing him of spreading “bigotry.” She even repeated the same false accusation King had already retracted — that Kirk wanted certain groups “stoned to death.”

MSNBC Fires Analyst Over Controversial Comments

Adding to the outrage, MSNBC fired political analyst Matthew Dowd after he appeared to blame Kirk for his own assassination.

On-air, Dowd implied that Kirk’s “hateful words” had led to “hateful actions.”

He later posted similar comments on X, which many viewers saw as a shocking attempt to justify political violence rather than condemn it.

The Bigger Picture: Political Violence Out of Control

The assassination of Charlie Kirk and the radical Left’s disturbing reaction has shaken conservatives nationwide.

Even Stephen King, one of Trump’s most vocal critics, was forced to admit he spread lies, proving how dangerous and reckless political rhetoric has become.

As President Donald Trump calls for unity, accountability, and truth, many Americans are asking a troubling question:

How much longer will the Left be allowed to incite hatred and violence without consequence?

Why This Matters for Conservatives

  • Political violence is escalating — and mainstream media voices are fueling the fire.
  • False narratives spread faster than facts, putting lives at risk.
  • President Trump and conservatives are demanding accountability and action.
