The Trump administration is locking everything down and it’s about time.

On Monday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth arrived in Texas for his first visit to the U.S.-Mexico border since assuming office. Hegseth, accompanied by White House Border Czar Tom Homan, made a stop at Fort Bliss in El Paso, where he met with troops working tirelessly to secure the southern border—a mission that continues to be a priority for the Pentagon under President Trump’s leadership.

In a post on social media, Hegseth expressed his gratitude for the soldiers’ hard work, stating, “Looking forward to meeting our great warriors and seeing the hard work they are doing securing our southern border. We will continue to deliver on this vital mission.” This statement highlights the importance of a strong military presence in safeguarding our nation and reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to border security.

Since beginning his second term, President Trump has taken decisive steps to address the crisis at the southern border, declaring a national emergency and signing numerous executive orders aimed at curbing illegal immigration. One of the key strategies has been deploying the military to bolster border security, assist in migrant transportation, and provide facilities to house those entering the U.S. unlawfully.

In a recent move, President Trump directed the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security to establish a large-scale migrant facility at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba—an installation traditionally used to house military detainees, including high-profile individuals connected to the 9/11 attacks. The facility is expected to accommodate up to 30,000 migrants, with Marines already on the ground to help prepare for its expansion. Homan has stated that they hope to start relocating migrants to the facility within 30 days.

Additionally, President Trump announced a breakthrough deal with Mexico’s president, who has agreed to send 10,000 soldiers to the U.S. border to assist in the efforts. In exchange, Trump has agreed to hold off on implementing a new 25% tariff on goods imported from Mexico for at least one month. This action is part of a broader strategy to reduce illegal immigration while also addressing the broader trade relationship with our southern neighbor.

The actions taken by President Trump and his administration clearly reflect their unwavering commitment to securing our nation’s borders and ensuring the safety of American citizens.
