This is unacceptable.
A shocking act of vandalism targeting President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is drawing renewed attention to the growing hostility directed at conservative public figures in America.
Photos circulating online appear to show Trump’s star deliberately defaced with offensive language. The images spread rapidly on social media, prompting widespread condemnation from Americans who view the incident as a blatant attack on civility, public order, and political tolerance.
The individual who shared the photo online claimed it was taken earlier this month during a visit to Hollywood Boulevard. He acknowledged being a critic of Trump and suggested the vandalism was politically motivated. Supporters of the president, however, say the act goes far beyond protest and crosses into criminal behavior that should never be tolerated in a free society.
Video posted more recently indicates the damage may have remained visible for days before removal efforts began. Both the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Hollywood Historic Trust were contacted for updates on cleanup and repairs.
If confirmed, the incident would mark the latest episode in a long history of vandalism aimed at Trump’s star — one of the most frequently targeted monuments on the Walk of Fame.
Trump received his star in 2007, long before entering politics. For years, it remained untouched. That changed once he became a national political figure and later assumed the presidency. Since then, the star has repeatedly been damaged, destroyed, and restored — often during moments of heightened political tension.

In previous incidents, vandals used tools to smash the marker, leading to arrests and costly repairs. According to reporting by the Los Angeles Times, more than $20,000 has been spent restoring Trump’s star over the years.
Despite political pressure from activists, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has consistently refused to remove Trump’s star or those of other controversial figures. Officials have emphasized that the Walk of Fame exists to honor professional achievements — not political opinions — and that removing stars would set a dangerous precedent.
That same policy has been applied to other high-profile figures, including Bill Cosby, reinforcing the Chamber’s position that history should not be erased based on public outrage.
For many Americans, especially older voters, the repeated vandalism of Trump’s star reflects a troubling breakdown in respect for public institutions, law enforcement, and peaceful political discourse. While disagreements are inevitable in a democracy, criminal acts targeting shared landmarks only deepen division and undermine the rule of law.
