Here’s what you need to know…

During an interview, Vivek Ramaswamy, a presidential candidate representing the Republican party, expressed his opinion that Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News host, would be a valuable participant in the 2024 presidential election.

According to The Hill, Ramaswamy, who declared his bid for the presidency in February, expressed his opinion in a Politico interview on Monday. He stated that he thinks Carlson’s decision to join the GOP race would be beneficial for the nation.

Ramaswamy explained, “I think he’d be a good addition to the race. I think someone should only do this if they feel called to do it, but I think it’d be good for the country if he got in, to be honest with you.”

Furthermore, Ramaswamy, a right-leaning investor, praised Carlson as “one of the most intelligent voices in the conservative movement” and lauded his capability to “deviate from party doctrine when required.”

“There’s definitely a thought leadership vacuum in political media, across the political spectrum. And Tucker was one of the great political thinkers and commentators of our time,” Ramaswamy added.

As Fox News declared on Monday that they have severed ties with Carlson, whose final show aired on Friday, Ramaswamy’s comments are particularly timely. Carlson had been with the right-wing news outlet since 2009 and garnered the highest ratings, averaging over three million viewers per night, making it the most popular nightly news program on cable television.

The reason for Carlson’s departure from Fox News is attributed to the network’s recent settlement of a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems. The settlement required Fox News to pay $787.5 million to the voting technology company in response to the network’s coverage of former President Trump’s baseless accusations of voter fraud, which allegedly involved Dominion software.
