1 Republican Tries To Derail Trump

Republicans stood strong but 1 Republican backstabbed Trump.

In a bold, patriotic move that has liberals fuming, House Republicans have voted to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.”

The legislation follows President Donald J. Trump’s executive order signed immediately after returning to the White House in January, fulfilling a promise to restore American pride on the global stage.

“This is about reclaiming our national greatness,” Trump said. “The Gulf belongs to America—and it always has.”

What’s in the Order? America First, Right Down to the Map

President Trump’s “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness” order instructs the Department of the Interior to rename the U.S. portion of the Gulf—stretching from Texas to Florida—as the “Gulf of America.”

Within days, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduced a bill to back the executive order with federal law and funding to update maps, signage, and websites nationwide.

“We rename post offices all the time,” Greene said. “This isn’t complicated—we should force this to happen. And we will.”

Bill Passes the House—Despite Democrat Resistance

The bill passed narrowly, 211–206, with every Democrat except eight skipping the vote. Only one Republican, Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), voted against it—calling the bill “juvenile” and drawing heavy criticism from conservative leaders and voters.

“The choice was simple,” said Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX). “America or Mexico. 205 Democrats chose Mexico.”

🔥 Backlash From the Left and the Liberal Media

Unsurprisingly, liberal media outlets like the Associated Press refused to adopt the new name, continuing to call it the Gulf of Mexico—sparking a White House decision to bar AP from select press events.

According to internal emails, Chief of Staff Susan Wiles noted the AP’s outsized influence on journalism and education, suggesting that refusing to adopt the change was a political act.

The AP has since filed a lawsuit claiming retaliation—a move many on the right see as nothing more than performative grandstanding.

🇺🇸 Trump’s America First Agenda Rolls Forward

Though the measure now heads to the Senate—where Democrat obstruction is expected—House Republicans have already scored a massive symbolic victory. The renaming represents more than a change in terminology. It signals a return to American pride, strength, and unapologetic leadership.

“The Gulf will forever be America’s,” declared the official House GOP account. #GulfOfAmerica #AmericaFirst #Trump2025 #HouseRepublicans #MTG

Final Thoughts: What This Means for Patriots

This renaming is more than semantics—it’s a declaration that America is back and unapologetically proud of its heritage. While Democrats clutch their pearls and liberal journalists cling to outdated maps, Republicans are busy restoring common sense, sovereignty, and national pride.
