5 Republicans Sabotage Trump

Trump needed this to happen.

President Donald Trump’s sweeping “One Big Beautiful Bill” hit a temporary roadblock Friday, as several Republican deficit hawks voted to block the legislation from advancing. But hope remains alive: House leaders will reconvene Sunday night for another vote — and momentum is growing.

The bill includes historic tax cuts, work requirements for Medicaid, and a crackdown on illegal immigration costs—exactly what many Americans voted for in 2024.

But fiscal conservatives say the current version doesn’t go far enough to rein in Washington’s reckless spending.

“This bill backloads the savings and front-loads the spending,” said Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX). “That’s a dangerous game, and our kids will pay the price.”

💸 What’s in Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill?

  • $3.8 trillion in tax cuts for families, tipped workers, small business owners, and overtime earners.
  • Medicaid reforms that end free healthcare for illegal aliens and restore the program for Americans in need.
  • A permanent 23% tax deduction for gig workers and the self-employed.
  • Pro-growth policies to bring $2.5 trillion in investments back from overseas.
  • Elimination of Biden-era red tape and costly federal regulations.

According to House Republicans, the plan is projected to reduce spending by $1.5 trillion, even without last-minute fixes.

🚫 Why Did Some Republicans Vote “No”?

Five GOP lawmakers—including Roy, Ralph Norman (SC), and Lloyd Smucker (PA)—blocked the bill on procedural grounds.

They argue that unless Medicaid work requirements kick in sooner than 2029, and more aggressive spending cuts are made, the bill could increase the deficit by $3.3 trillion over 10 years.

Some also want tighter limits on benefits for able-bodied adults and non-citizens, which cost taxpayers over $16 billion under the Biden administration, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

“Great tax cuts—terrible spending control,” said Norman. “We need to fix that before signing off.”

📢 Trump Responds: “Get This Done for the American People!”

From aboard Air Force One, Trump issued a fiery statement:

“This bill cuts TAXES for ALL Americans and KICKS millions of ILLEGAL ALIENS off Medicaid! Without it, your taxes could go up by 65%!
Republicans must STOP the grandstanding. FIX Biden’s mess and GET THIS DONE!”

🧾 The Stakes Are High

If passed through budget reconciliation, this bill could move through Congress without needing Democrat votes.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) remains confident:

“We’re very close. Everyone knows we have to do this. I’m committed to working all weekend to get it across the finish line.”

Bottom Line:
Trump’s budget is a bold plan to cut taxes, protect American seniors, end handouts for illegal immigrants, and grow the economy. But unless conservatives unite, this once-in-a-generation opportunity could slip away.

Will Republicans deliver? Stay tuned. Sunday’s vote could shape America’s economic future.
