While New Yorkers Beg for Help, AOC Focuses on ‘X’ Gender Passports Instead of Public Safety
In a stunning example of misplaced priorities, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is under fire from her own constituents for ignoring rising crime, prostitution, and drug activity in her Queens district — while promoting radical gender ideology in her latest taxpayer-funded newsletter.
Residents and business owners along Roosevelt Avenue — once a thriving corridor, now plagued by lawlessness — say they feel abandoned by the self-described progressive. Despite growing calls for action against illegal activity, AOC’s July newsletter focused on how to list “X” as your gender on U.S. passports.
“We need real help, not woke politics,” said Rosa Sanchez, leader of the Restore Roosevelt Avenue Coalition. “Our streets are filled with crime, drugs, gangs, and trafficking — and our congresswoman is nowhere to be found.”
Locals Plead for Help as Gangs Take Control
Roosevelt Avenue, nicknamed “The Market of Sweethearts,” has become a hotspot for illegal vendors, open prostitution, and violent gang activity — much of it driven by the ongoing migrant crisis.
Despite the NYPD’s best efforts, federal prosecutors say criminal networks tied to MS-13 and other gangs are using the corridor to sell drugs, fake IDs, and exploit women — turning once-safe neighborhoods into danger zones.
In June, federal agents indicted illegal migrants linked to a transnational crime ring for running brothels and extorting local businesses in AOC’s district.
“Public safety is our top concern,” Sanchez said. “AOC should be on the front lines with us, not pushing identity politics from Washington.”
AOC Pushes Gender Changes as Crime Explodes
Rather than addressing these urgent concerns, AOC’s taxpayer-funded newsletter instructed constituents on how to change their gender marker on passports to “X,” despite President Trump’s executive order requiring biological sex to be listed on all federal documents.
That order was blocked by a liberal judge, allowing the Biden administration — with AOC’s support — to continue promoting radical gender policies.
“This is pure far-left activism,” said New York Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar. “AOC would rather virtue-signal to activists than protect the families in her district. It’s a total abdication of leadership.”
No Mention of Crime – Just Bureaucracy and Self-Promotion
AOC’s newsletter skipped over the exploding crisis on Roosevelt Avenue but did boast about a press event with fellow Democrat Rep. Tom Suozzi, celebrating a local college’s inclusion in a federal air traffic controller program.
She also highlighted helping one constituent get back pay from Social Security — but made no mention of the daily struggles faced by thousands of others living in fear.
When asked about the ongoing crime wave, AOC’s office refused to comment, instead deflecting to her FAA press conference.
“She wants to be a celebrity, not a congresswoman,” said one local business owner. “While we’re losing our communities, she’s chasing national headlines.”
Conservatives Call for Accountability
President Trump’s policies on law and order, border security, and restoring sanity to government documents continue to resonate with Americans — especially those in cities where crime is out of control.
Voters in New York and across the country are growing tired of representatives like AOC putting ideology above public safety.
“We need leaders focused on protecting American families, not promoting dangerous distractions,” Kassar said. “This is why we support President Trump’s agenda.”
