GOP Endorses Trump’s Enemy

This was unexpected.

In a stunning twist inside the Republican Party, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is defying President Donald Trump by backing Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) — the same congressman Trump wants out of office.

Paul announced his full endorsement of Massie, telling Politico he’ll “be with him every step of the way” as the libertarian-leaning lawmaker faces a Trump-backed challenger in the 2026 GOP primary.

“Thomas Massie is going to win,” Paul said. “I’m going to help him. I’m going to be with him every step of the way.”

🚨 GOP Civil War: Paul vs. Trump’s Pick

Paul warned that Trump’s recent threats toward lawmakers like Massie “should raise alarms for any Republican who values independence.”
He called it a dangerous moment for the party, saying, “Oppose me or my policies and I’ll come after you — that’s not good for the GOP or the country.”

The clash highlights a deep divide in the Republican Party — between grassroots constitutional conservatives like Paul and Massie, and Trump’s new circle of hawkish loyalists eager to dominate the 2026 primaries.

⚔️ The Trump–Massie Feud Heats Up

Tensions between Trump and Massie go back years.
Massie — a fiscal hawk and privacy advocate — has repeatedly challenged Washington’s spending addiction. He voted against Trump’s massive “One Big, Beautiful Bill” and pushed to expose the Epstein files, arguing Americans “deserve transparency.”

He’s also sought to rein in presidential war powers, angering D.C. insiders but earning respect from limited-government conservatives nationwide.

Still, both Paul and Massie insist they agree with much of Trump’s America First agenda — especially on borders, trade, and domestic energy — but differ on foreign entanglements in places like Ukraine and Venezuela.

“We support Trump’s policies far more than some of the establishment figures now whispering in his ear,” Paul said.

🗳️ Trump’s Candidate Enters the Ring

President Trump, meanwhile, has thrown his support behind retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, calling Massie a “totally ineffective LOSER” on Truth Social.

Gallrein eagerly accepted Trump’s endorsement, kicking off his campaign as the president’s trusted ally and pledging to unseat Thomas Massie while carrying out the America First agenda that Kentuckians overwhelmingly support.

“This district is Trump Country,” Gallrein said. “We’re going to win big for President Trump and America First.”

💥 Kentucky Grassroots Push Back Hard

Despite the attacks, Massie and Paul are finding massive support on the ground.

Their six-stop “liberty tour” through Kentucky’s 4th District drew overflowing crowds as they championed small government, transparency, and fiscal sanity.

According to Louisville Public Media, a pro-Trump political action committee has poured more than $2 million into negative ads, though both Paul and Massie brushed them off as nothing more than “absurd political noise.”

Massie, sitting on $2 million cash on hand, says voters know who’s fighting for them.

“Supporting liberty and fiscal responsibility shouldn’t make you an enemy,” Massie told supporters. “That’s what real conservatives believe in.”

🔍 What This Means for the GOP

The Paul–Massie alliance marks a growing resistance to what some call “top-down control” inside the Republican Party.

If Massie wins — despite Trump’s opposition — it could signal a powerful comeback for independent, America First conservatives who refuse to play politics with principle.

For now, all eyes are on Kentucky — where Trump’s movement, Rand Paul’s influence, and Thomas Massie’s survival instinct are on a direct collision course.
