Could one of Hollywood’s most recognizable conservatives be preparing to enter politics?
Award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer says running for public office is no longer just an idea—it’s something he may seriously pursue in the years ahead.
During a recent interview with Us Weekly, the longtime “Frasier” and “Cheers” star revealed that he has spent years considering a political career and believes serving the country in elected office could fulfill a lifelong sense of duty.
Grammer explained that he has often felt he missed an opportunity to serve America through the military. Public office, he said, may provide another way to give back.
“It would possibly tick that box for me,” Grammer said, adding that he has wrestled with the idea for years.
Although no formal announcement has been made, the 71-year-old actor indicated that a campaign could become more realistic after his youngest children are older. He also dismissed the idea that age would prevent him from serving.
“I’m vital and prepared to stay that way for quite a while,” Grammer said. “It’s likely I will at least throw my hat in the ring in some way.”
A Longtime Interest in Politics
This isn’t the first time Grammer has discussed entering public service.
As far back as 2003, he told Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes that he could envision seeking elected office later in life, even mentioning the possibility of serving in the U.S. Senate.
Over the years, Grammer has also become one of Hollywood’s most outspoken conservative voices. Unlike many celebrities who avoid Republican politics, he has openly supported President Donald Trump and praised his leadership during multiple interviews.
Oval Office Meeting With President Trump
Grammer’s latest comments come as he promotes his new film, “Young Washington.”
According to Deadline, the actor met with President Trump at the Oval Office on Thursday. The two reportedly discussed politics, family, and the new movie during what sources described as a relaxed and friendly meeting.
Afterward, Grammer was asked about Trump’s efforts to bring Americans together politically.
The actor said he believes the president appreciates the American system, where opposing viewpoints compete before compromise is eventually reached.
Reflecting on the visit, Grammer described the meeting as enjoyable and said the conversation covered everything from politics to family life.
Could Kelsey Grammer Run in 2028?
While Grammer has not officially announced a campaign or identified which office he might seek, his latest remarks have fueled speculation that a political run could be on the horizon.
If he decides to enter the race, Grammer would join a growing list of entertainers who have transitioned from Hollywood into public service—a path that has produced governors, senators, and even presidents.
With the 2028 election cycle slowly beginning to take shape, many voters will be watching to see whether the Emmy-winning actor turns years of political interest into an official campaign.
