Do we even have a president thats in charge at this point?
President Joe Biden’s disregard for the press continued during his recent trip to Brazil, where he wrapped up his participation in the G-20 summit. As he prepared to board Air Force One to leave Rio de Janeiro, a reporter could be heard desperately trying to get his attention, but Biden chose to ignore her, despite her repeated cries.
The reporter, in a clear attempt to break through the deafening noise of the jet engines, shouted at the president, urging him to answer questions. “Mr. President, happy early birthday! For your birthday, will you talk to us, sir?” she asked. As her attempts went unanswered, her voice grew louder and more strained, but the president never responded. “As a gift to the press, will you please talk to us? Mr. President! We haven’t heard from you all trip!” she pleaded, with her final call of “MR. PRESIDENT!” almost a hoarse shout.

Biden’s lack of engagement with the media has raised concerns about his transparency, especially since this is not the first time he has ignored reporters during his presidency. This lack of accountability is a troubling pattern that has persisted throughout his time in office. The president’s refusal to take questions undermines the role of the press in holding public officials accountable.
In fact, this behavior has not gone unnoticed. Major media outlets, including The New York Times, have criticized Biden for avoiding interviews and questions from the press. As the Times pointed out, the president’s actions set a dangerous precedent for future administrations. It’s not just about avoiding particular reporters, but about establishing a norm where public officials can evade scrutiny and avoid being held accountable for their actions.
At a time when Americans are looking for leadership and transparency, President Biden’s continued stonewalling of the press sends a concerning message. Republicans and conservatives know that a healthy democracy requires open communication and accountability from our leaders—something that is sorely missing from this administration. The American people deserve answers, not silence.
