Psaki Mocks Prayer After Catholic School Tragedy
MSNBC host Jen Psaki sparked national outrage after mocking prayer in the aftermath of the deadly Annunciation Catholic School shooting in Minneapolis. Two children were killed and 17 others wounded Wednesday morning as families gathered for Mass.
Rather than expressing compassion, Psaki brushed aside prayer as meaningless, writing: “Prayer alone isn’t enough. It doesn’t stop school shootings, it doesn’t reassure parents about sending their kids to class, and it won’t bring back the children we’ve lost. Enough with the ‘thoughts and prayers.’
Vance Defends Faith, Calls Left’s Attacks “Bizarre”
Vice President JD Vance immediately came to the defense of prayer, blasting Psaki for turning tragedy into a political attack on people of faith.
“In moments of heartbreak, we pray because we trust that God hears us. He works in ways beyond our understanding and can move us to take action,” Vance wrote on X. “So why attack those who are praying, especially when children just lost their lives while in prayer?”
Vance then described Psaki’s words as “one of the weirdest left-wing culture war stunts in years.”
Democrats Use Tragedy to Push Politics
Psaki doubled down—seizing on the tragedy to attack President Trump’s anti-crime efforts in Washington, D.C. She ridiculed the use of the National Guard to secure the capital, scoffing: “If children can be shot during Mass in a Catholic school while your big plan is having the Guard spread mulch around D.C., maybe it’s time to rethink your strategy.”
Prayer vs. Politics: Two Americas
The attack on prayer has struck a nerve with millions of Americans—especially Christians and conservatives who see faith as a cornerstone of the nation. While the Left ridicules prayer, Trump and Vance continue to defend religious liberty and traditional values.
For grieving families in Minnesota, prayer is not “empty.” It is a source of hope, healing, and strength. Psaki’s rhetoric underscores the growing divide between Democrats who dismiss faith and Trump’s team, which openly embraces it.
