The media is prepared to stoop to any low to slander Trump and the Republicans.
Jennifer Rubin, a columnist for The Washington Post, has recently called for a drastic shift in the Democratic Party’s messaging, urging them to accuse Republicans of wanting to harm children. In a recent episode of her podcast, “Jen Rubin’s Green Room,” she advocated for an aggressive political strategy that paints Republicans as a direct threat to public safety and well-being.
Rubin believes that Senate Republicans, especially those who approve of President Trump’s cabinet nominees, should be held accountable for any potential harm caused by these individuals. She described these Republicans as responsible for “dangerous, treasonous, unfit people” holding positions of power. In her view, Democrats need to focus on tracking these individuals and making it clear to voters exactly who is accountable for the consequences of their actions.
To effectively communicate this, Rubin recommended that Democrats avoid vague rhetoric and focus on clear, impactful messaging. She specifically suggested that the party should say, “Republicans want to kill your kids,” a statement she claims is “actually true.” According to Rubin, such direct and alarming language will resonate with voters and help draw a stark contrast between the two parties.
Rubin, who was once a conservative voice but has become increasingly critical of the Republican Party in recent years, also expressed her frustration with certain mainstream media figures. She criticized MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski for meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, calling their actions “disgusting” and suggesting viewers should consider boycotting their program.
She also voiced strong opinions about the Washington Post’s owner, Jeff Bezos, accusing him of betraying journalistic integrity by halting the paper’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris before the 2024 election. Rubin claimed this move reflected a larger trend of media outlets, including the Post, compromising their responsibility to protect democracy in the face of rising authoritarian threats.
In her view, these actions are a symptom of a broader issue within the media and political establishment, one that she argues poses a significant risk to democratic values. Rubin’s calls for accountability and her vocal criticisms of the mainstream media and political figures continue to shape her public persona as a fierce advocate for liberal causes in the age of Trump.
