Biden is pointing fingers now that his son is facing justice.

President Joe Biden has reportedly linked his son Hunter Biden’s recent federal gun conviction to the heightened scrutiny from his re-election campaign. He expressed concerns that his political career has placed undue attention on his family. According to a report by Politico, Biden confided to an associate that if he were not seeking re-election, Hunter might have secured a plea deal.

In July 2023, Hunter Biden’s initial plea agreement fell through. On a recent Tuesday, a jury in Delaware found him guilty on three counts related to false statements and unlawful gun possession. Although these charges could result in a prison sentence of up to 25 years, it is not anticipated that Hunter will receive the maximum penalty.

White House aides have suggested that the verdict has taken a significant emotional toll on President Biden. He was reportedly informed of the guilty verdict while preparing to give a speech on gun violence. Following this, he returned to his Wilmington, Delaware, home to be with his son.

In an earlier interview with ABC News’ David Muir in Normandy, France, before the trial’s conclusion, President Biden had committed to accepting the outcome of the trial. He also stated that he would not consider pardoning Hunter if he were convicted.

The charges against Hunter Biden include making false statements during a gun purchase, providing false information required by a federally licensed gun dealer, and possessing a firearm while being an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.

After the verdict, President Biden released a statement expressing his love and support for his son, acknowledging Hunter’s struggles with addiction and expressing pride in his recovery efforts. He reiterated his commitment to respecting the judicial process as Hunter contemplates an appeal.

In response to the verdict, Hunter Biden expressed his gratitude for the support from his family, friends, and community, highlighting the importance of recovery and the strength he has gained from overcoming addiction.
