A shocking new report from the Rolling Stone now alleges that two top officials in Trump’s former administration, Steve Mnuchin and Mike Pompeo, discussed a plan to remove Trump from office using the 25th Amendment just after the January 6th Capitol protest happened.
The initial claims were made in Jonathan Karl’s new book Betrayal.
The book alleges that then-Treasury Secretary Mnuchin called then-Secretary of State Pompeo the night of the January 6th to discuss if whether or not they should use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.
“I learned that Mnuchin had several conversations about the 25th Amendment and, further, that Mike Pompeo actually asked for a legal analysis of the 25th Amendment and how it would work,” Karl said in a recent interview with MSNBC.
Karl claims that his sources were “rock solid” regarding this information. However, since this bombshell allegation dropped, Pompeo has completely denied any conversation regarding the 25th Amendment to remove Trump ever happened with him.
“Pompeo through a spokesman denied there have ever been conversations around invoking the 25th Amendment,” a statement read.
