Do you think this is a witch hunt? Who is responsible for this?
On Thursday, former President Donald Trump announced that he had been informed by his legal team about a federal grand jury in Miami, Florida, indicting him. Trump made this announcement through his social media platform, Truth Social, and stated that he was required to appear at the David W. Dyer Federal Building and United States Courthouse on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
Although Trump did not explicitly state the reason for the indictment, he suggested that it may be related to the special counsel investigation concerning sensitive files discovered at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach. He criticized the Department of Justice for what he perceived as a double standard, claiming that they were not pursuing the special counsel investigation into President Joe Biden’s classified files issue as vigorously.
Trump further alleged that Biden had numerous boxes of documents, some stored at the University of Delaware, additional boxes in Chinatown, D.C., and even more boxes at the University of Pennsylvania. He also claimed that Biden’s garage contained scattered documents, with minimal security provided by a flimsy garage door that was often left open.
Asserting his innocence, Trump highlighted current polling data that showed him leading both Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis and President Biden in the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. He expressed astonishment that such a situation could occur to a former President of the United States who had received a record-breaking number of votes and was dominating the polls for the upcoming presidential election.
Trump concluded his statement by declaring it a “DARK DAY” for the United States and expressing concern over the country’s rapid decline. Nevertheless, he expressed optimism in his familiar slogan, stating that together, the nation would “Make America Great Again.”
Earlier in the week, reports emerged about the imminent indictment by special counsel John L. Smith. Trump’s statement serves as the first confirmation of this news. As of now, the Department of Justice has not responded to Trump’s assertions.
