Did Trump go too far?
In a surprising turn of events, a number of Republicans who are often on former President Donald Trump’s side are now turning on him following his attack against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
According to Fox, former President Trump began attacking DeSantis likely because he believes DeSantis will challenge him in 2024. Trump nicknamed Ron DeSantis as “Ron DeSanctimonious” during a recent rally in Pennsylvania.

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh condemned Trump’s attack against DeSantis and said, “DeSantis is an extremely effective conservative governor who has had real policy wins and real cultural wins. Trump isn’t going to be able to take this one down with a dumb nickname. He better have more than that up his sleeve.”
Several people including Walsh also criticized Trump for attacking DeSantis just 3 days before the midterms. “We’re all supposed to be showing a united front,” Walsh explained.
The American Conservative Rod Dreher went as far as calling Trump an idiot.
Dreher wrote, “What an idiot. DeSantis is a far more effective leader of the Right than Trump was, if, that is, you expect a leader to get a lot done, rather than just talking about it and owning the libs.”
Overall most Republicans just wanted Trump to wait until after the midterms. The mainstream media has already used Trump’s attack against DeSantis as a ways to divide the Republican Party.
